2014 Rally for Life at the Capitol

Almost forty-one years ago the United States Supreme Court determined in Roe v. Wadethat the most basic right we have— the right to live— could not be protected by the states until the child was deemed “viable” (between twenty-four to twenty-eight weeks at the time).  The Supreme Court claimed in the ruling of Justice Blackmun:  "We need not resolve the difficult question of when life begins. When those trained in the respective disciplines of medicine, philosophy, and theology are unable to arrive at any consensus, the judiciary, at this point in the development of man's knowledge, is not in a position to speculate as to the answer."  Even though he needed not resolve it scientific evidence then as now showed the court that a new life starts at fertilization.

This ruling struck down all legal protections that were in place in North Dakota to protect the unborn in our state.  To commemorate and protest the anniversary of this sad ruling that has resulted in the deaths of 66,000 North Dakotans and 55 million Americans, we invite you to attend our annual Pro-Life Rally on the Capitol steps in Bismarck on Sunday, January 19th (Sanctity of Life Sunday) from 2pm-3pm with an Open House to follow at Saint Mary’s High School.
