North Dakota Right to Life’s “Life Worth Defending” Banquets a Success across the state!

In place of our annual educational conferences, this year NDRL was able to host two wonderful national speakers, bringing in Shari Rigby, a post-abortive woman, and Melissa Ohden, an abortion survivor.

Melissa Ohden spoke in Fargo, to a crowd of about 200. A short part of her story can be found on her website:

Melissa is the survivor of a failed saline infusion abortion in 1977 Despite the initial concerns regarding Melissa’s future after surviving the attempt to end her life and being born alive at approximately seven months gestation, she has not only survived but thrived. With a Master’s Degree in Social Work, she has worked in the fields of substance abuse, mental health, domestic violence/sexual assault counseling, and child welfare. Melissa and her husband Ryan have a daughter, Olivia, whose birth at the same hospital where Melissa’s life was supposed to end has significantly shaped Melissa’s ministry.

Melissa brought people to tears once again with her powerfully moving story. A special thank you to Lydia Trandem for helping to manage this event!

Shari Rigby was able to come to the Bismarck and Grand Forks events, on October 29 and 30. In Bismarck, Shari had a crowd of over 500, and in Grand forks, over 300! Here is a bit about Shari from her bio that was read that night:

Shari was a teenage mom at 17. The second time she became pregnant, she had an abortion. At the age of 25, she rededicated her life to Christ. She believes that God used “October Baby” to bring healing to her for her own abortion, and she knows that God will do the same for others who have been there.

More to come on these events later, and stay tuned for pictures! Thank you to all who were able to make this event a success, and who were able to be there!
