NDRL’s first annual “Run for their Lives” was held at Sertoma Park in Bismarck on September 7, 2012. Over 100 pro-lifers from the Bismarck/Mandan and surrounding areas showed up to walk and run in honor of those who have lost their lives through abortion, infanticide, and euthanasia.
There was beautiful weather that evening, which was perfect for the outdoor event! Runners and walkers started meeting around 6:30 in the evening for registration and community fellowship. We had the runners take off at 7:00, followed by the walkers shortly after that. The 1-mile walk was able to accommodate families with small children and those who weren’t up for doing the whole 3.1 miles!
After the race, back at the shelter, the participants enjoyed water and snacks while meeting other pro-life members of the community. Capitol Heights Baptist Church was able to join us at the shelter and provide water and pro-life “life savers.” It was great to have them alongside us, joining us in this cause!
Small prizes were given to the winners of various categories. The University of Mary Collegians for Life was the recipient of both the Largest Team Award and the Best Team Name. It was great to have so many young faces and great energy with us that night!
We owe a big thank-you to our sponsors who made this event a success and helped further along the pro-life movement in North Dakota:
Gold Sponsors: Krumm and Associates, Capitol Heights Baptist Church
Silver Sponsors: Church of St. Anne, Church of St. Joseph, Charity Lutheran Church
Bronze Sponsors: Front Street Lighting, Bismarck Reality (Chuck Huber), Marilyn and Anselm Ternes, Mayo Pharmacy, Mandan Nazarene Church, Flash Printing, Dan’s Supermarket, and Scheels
We look forward to next years “Run for their Lives,” and we are sure that we will again have a wonderful response from the dedicated pro-lifers in our state!
