Earlier this week, Philadelphia abortionist Kermit Gosnell was found guilty on:
- 3 counts of first degree murder
- 1 count of involuntary manslaughter
- a host of other charges including infanticide, illegal late term abortions, violations of the 24 hour waiting period, and more.
For his crimes, Gosnell was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole; a sentence which he is already serving.
While it is good to see that justice is being served in this case, it is not a cause for celebration. Gosnell was convicted of a handful of murders, but thousands of children were slaughtered by this man. Abortionists around the country kill innocent children every day without any repercussions. It is a matter of inches that separates a legal abortion from first degree murder. In both cases, the unborn child will feel the same pain, and the same life will be lost.
If this trial has shown us anything, it is that abortion most certainly is a brutal atrocity, and that allowing for the killing of innocent human beings inside the womb inevitably leads to the killing of innocent humans outside of the womb. It is good to see justice being served, but we will only be able to celebrate when the unthinkable atrocity that is abortion is outlawed, and when women no longer feel the need to have their children killed.
