Senator Heidi Heitkamp not Running for Governor!

Pro abortion Democrat Heidi Heitkamp is not running for Governor. This announcement comes shortly following her announcement that she will oppose the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. Her opposition to the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act breaks a campaign promise Heitkamp made when running for Governor when she said: “I do not support public funding of abortions, and believe that late term abortions should be illegal except when necessary to save the life of the mother.”

Her office now claims that she is for late term abortion, but against federal funding of abortion (even though she voted to insert federal funding for abortion in a bill earlier this year): ”Senator Heitkamp believes reproductive decisions should be left to a woman, her family, and her doctor, and it isn’t up to the government to determine what that timeline should be.”

It appears that her radical pro-abortion position that she used when she ran for Governor in 2000 is the most accurate view of her beliefs on life. “I have said that, basically, I believe this is a choice that is best left to the mother, that is best left to the choice in the family. I think this is a decision that a lot of people in this state don’t think the government should be involved in at all.” (Hot Talk with Scott Hennen)

Senator Heitkamp not running for Governor is a small victory for the pro-life movement, but she is still doing lots of harm to the rights of unborn children in the United States Senate.
